This is pretty cool, and completely new to me.
World's Smallest 5 Axis Milling Machine - Pocket NC V2
The video starts with demonstrating the 5 axii. Three are linear, providing translation in the X, Y & Z directions. The other two are rotary and are at right angles to each other. And that doesn't count the rotary motion of the cutting head. The Pocket NC V2 costs about $6,000, so it's kind of expensive for a desktop toy.
CNC milling machines can make round things using only linear motions. With precisely machined, fine pitch lead screws and fine toothed stepper motors they can dang near perfectly emulate a circle. I wonder if anyone has tried using such a circular part where it will be rotating. I mean, the CNC machine can make something that looks round and feels round, but just how round is it, really?

That is very cool but you also need the other part of the equation, the computer and software. A good quality laptop would probably run it but then it needs to know all about that fan you want. Each blade would be a group of subroutines which would be used over and over but would be pretty lengthy by themselves. All that said, I want one, I used to program the big ones. ;o)
