For as long as I can remember, I have been hearing about how entrepreneurs are the source of all good things, economically speaking. They create more jobs, they are what makes America great. From what you hear in the press they must be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
It occurs to me that many people become entrepreneurs not because they want to, but because that is the only course open to them. When times are tough and jobs are scarce, people still need a way to eek out a living, and going into business for yourself may be the only way. We hear stories about the long hours they put in. They do it not because they are gluttons for punishment, but because it's the only way they can make their business work.
When you have more people than there are jobs available, like right now, people are going to be trying all kinds of different things as ways to make money. There will be the occasional criminal or scam artist, but most of them will be honest folks just trying to make living. Good luck to us all.
