Associated comment from my role as a flying instructor : about 3/4 of my initial students hold their map on their knees with north forward. The other 1/4 turn the map all the time so that the current track is forward. This means they have to turn it back to read any text etc :-( It is this 25% who later have navigational problems, statistically speaking.
