Animal

Large-Spotted Genet (Grootkolmuskejaatkat - Genetta tigrina) in a small cave at the Woody Cape
Photo was taken with a camera trap. I suspect the cloudy eye is an artifact of the flash. I have no idea what a Genet is but it would probably bite you if given a chance. Woody Cape is at the south end of Africa. It's the easternmost cape before the coastline finally turns north. Port Elizabeth is the nearest sizable town. It's about 50 miles away. 1. they're related to civets (also known as civet cats). AFAIK, these things are off in their own family (not related to actual cats or dogs) but they are carnivores (so yes, they'd bite you, given the chance).

Civets are the animal that musk was gathered from back in the day. I'm guessing they have a synthetic form now because the animal is usually killed to get it. Also, the civet is the animal (in)famous for that kind of coffee beans (kopi luwak) that passes through the intestinal tract of the animal first....yeah, the things people will pay for.
