Tom Lovell ( 1909 – 1997, American)- The crash of the airship USS Macon (ZRS-5) |
The Macon crashed into the sea off Point Sur, California in 1935. I'm not sure why this picture captured my interest. Perhaps because pictures the wreck of the Hindenburg are the only ones I have seen.
Reading Wikipedia's article about the USS Macon, I found this:

The 1930s must of been heady times.
Tom Lovell and Noel Sickles were both accomplished artists. Muddy Colors has a nice collection of Tom's work, and there is a page on Flickr of Noel's work.
