When we started watching The Eagle I suspected we had seen it before, but no. Centurion was the movie I was thinking about. Centurion is about the loss of Rome's 9th Legion. This movie is about the son of the commander going north of Hadrian's Wall to retrieve their standard, a gold eagle.
I saw this flick. Not bad overall but, it made the romans out to be good guys and the turncoat that helped the roman is made out to be a good guy too. So, although it was well done, the story sucked
ReplyDeleteI was done thinking about this show, but your comment has dragged me back in. The Celt slave showed exceptional bravery by refusing to fight the gladiator. I suspect he's thinking 'yes, you captured and enslaved me but I'll be damned if I am going to spend my last few minutes of life entertaining you'. Our hero recognized his bravery and took him into his service. His life there would have been materially better than his life in the north. The apparent switching of loyalties when they went north was a bit confusing. It would have been necessary camouflage, but the slave evidently his pledge of allegiance to our hero seriously.
