Autumn Leaves
I have always heard people say how they like Autumn and fall colors, the red, yellow and orange colors of the leaves. I always thought it was something I should appreciate, but it never made much impact. I just figured out that I don't particularly care about fall colors. I like the green leaves of summer. I have no idea why that should be.

FWIW, the human eye can distinguish more shades of green than of other colours (spectral resolution). Some evolutionary advantage there?
I just read something about how people whose language has names for specific shades of a color are better at identifying those shades. They example they used was blue & Russian.
I remember it used to be almost impossible to get a good rendition of British Racing Green on a computer monitor. It was either regular green, or black, they never seemed to get it right. Have things changed since then? I don't know.
You go to the paint store and they have a thousand and one shades of any color you want, and names to go along with them, but they generally are not color names, more often they are fanciful, like "spring showers" or some other nonsense.
And then there was "Smilla's Sense of Snow" where they have dozens of names for different kinds of snow.

There are 18 Inuit words for snow; we only have 4 in (alpine) Germany.
