Frantic Schoolgirls

OKP Cipher
Avantgardey - Topic

Several of these have popped up (above) recently. Then I found this (below). Somebody has too much energy. Or they are going insane. I dunno which.

Ice Ice

Ice Ice

Over the last couple of days while I've been flipping through YouTube Shorts, a bunch of videos playing Ice Ice Baby has been showing up. I don't know whether this some freak phenomena and the whole world is tuned into this tune, or there some event that triggered it, or whether YouTube just decided I needed to see all these. I thought it was a little odd, so I collected them into a playlist.

Storm In A Teacup

Storm In A Teacup - Fortunes (1971)
The Dancing Troll

Liz Hinds mentions this tune, but when I look for it the first thing that pops up is a Red Hot Chili Peppers tune. I generally like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, some of their songs are wonderful, but this isn't one of those, so I looked a little farther and found this one. It's from 1971 and since Liz and I are both about the same vintage, and since the lyrics match the line she quoted, this must be it.

The tune is pleasant enough, but the dancing girl is what gets it posted here.

Does anyone even use teacups anymore? We have coffee mugs and I use them for tea sometimes, but I often only drink about half of a mug, which is like a teacup's worth. Tea is kind of subtle, kind of like a cat slinking about the room. Coffee is more like a herd of wildebeests stampeding through the house.

Half Alive - Still Feel

half•alive - still feel. [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
half•alive

I dunno about the tune, it's okay I guess, but the choreography is amusing. It's not spectacular like you might get from professional dancers, but it's clever in a geometric kind of way, clever enough to rate posting here.

Dance

Argentine Tango danced by Anthony Dexter and Patricia Medina in Valentino (1951)
The Ultimate Movies Broadcast Show

I found the introduction a bit curious:

"In honor of your birthday Mr. Towers, allow me to present my conception of a prologue to the four horsemen of the apocalypse."

Just what does that mean anyway?

Reminds me of Apache dancing.

Apaches

Apache Knuckleduster Revolver
Forgotten Weapons

This thing is like something out of some steampunk fantasy. What a complicated gizmo. It's something my 12 year old self would simply adore. Shoot, my 70 year old self would like to have one to play with. I could be the star of my own steampunk fantasy. I just need someone to hold the camera.

The "Apache" was a combination knife, brass knuckle, and revolver made by several companies in Belgium and France, which became associated with a group of street thugs in Paris around the turn of the century. - Ian
Les Apaches was a Parisian Belle Époque violent criminal underworld subculture of early 20th-century hooligans, night muggers, street gangs and other criminals.
. . .
There are a number of stories about the origin of the term "Apaches", with a common denominator that this was a comparison of their savagery with that attributed by Europeans to the Native American tribes of Apaches.
. . .
Certain elements of the Apache "style" became influential in French and then international popular culture, including the Apache dance and Apache shirt. - Wikipedia

Nothing much has changed. Savages are still running around loose terrorizing their women and random citizens. Women still cling to their protectors / abusers, and stylized portrayals of violence entertains everyone.

Some of us like to pretend we are civilized, but scratch most anyone and underneath the shiny plastic exterior you will find a brutal savage.

Popcorn Sutton

Moonshine Making 101

I don't know about the rest of this video, but the intro is great. I looked around and tried to find a more complete clip, but I didn't have much luck. This one at least has a decent tune to go with it. The old guy is likely Popcorn Sutton, a famous old moonshiner.

Reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones dancing a jig in The Homesman.

Incendiary Cossack song - Oh, you oyisya

Зажигательная казачья песня - Ойся, ты ойся

Horses and sabres. I think this might be the Russian version of Yee Haw! Pretty great in any case.

Skate

Old Dare Devil

I've watched this several times and I am still not sure just exactly what he is doing. His path through the cones is very convoluted. He doesn't knock any down though.

Hand Dancing

Anton Ishutin feat Note U Be My Lover Sharapov Remix
АЛИНА ВИШНЕВСКАЯ

The tune is tolerable and there are plenty of dancing girls, which is always a plus, but it's the hand dancing (I don't know what else you would call it) that captured me. She shows up at the beginning and intermittently throughout the video.

I thought it was cool enough that went looking for more and found this guy.

"DUBSTEP FINGERS" | Finger Tutting Hand Dance | PNUT | Skrillex Kill everybody

My fingers are a little on the stubby side, so I would hard pressed to duplicate this performance. Okay, I would be hard pressed to do something that might be recognizable as a poor imitation.

Hand dancing has been mentioned here before.

Update July 2022 replaced missing video.

Update March 2022. It was only available from Facebook, but the Facebook embed doesn't work anymore, but the video has found its way to YouTube, so we have a video again. Not sure why I posted this in the first place.
