Central Park was laid out in 1857 when most of Manhattan Island was still rural. It is not the biggest park in New York City, but New York City is pretty big. It is the biggest park in Manhattan.
Several of my kid's friends have relocated to Manhattan in the last few years and all seem to be doing well. Okay, living accommodations are tight, on the order of 6 or 700 square feet, but they're working and maybe even getting ahead.
