A grim little tale. How do we get in these situations? We band together because groups of people working together can accomplish much more than a single person working alone. Groups need leaders because sometimes you need to make decisions, and if you want to wait until the group comes to a consensus on what needs to be done, the opportunity (for whatever it was) may have passed. So we pick a guy to be the leader, but he is just a person, just like any other person, he is not a god. Hopefully he is smarter than average, but sometimes he is just more skillful in manipulating people. Sometimes he is a psychopath.
So now we have large groups of people who have banded together for their own benefit. They all have leaders. Some of these leaders are good, some are bad, some are smart, some are stupid. Some are sadistic psychos. These groups keep bumping into each other and we get conflicts.
Maybe an AI (artificial intelligence) will take over. I don't know that it could do any worse. Of course, some people will not accept rule by a computer and will rebel so things won't really change. That's just the way people are, don't you know?
