Well, he's not wrong when it comes to Rochester carbs, I finally ditched the Quadra-Jet on my '70 Chevrolet in favor of an Edelbrock Performer 600. Tuned it one time when I fitted it and it's been working ever since.

Every time I hear some supposed car guy say something along the lines of: "Well, if you know what you're doing, those Quadra-Jets were pretty awesome carbs." I respond with an offer to sell him mine from the shelf of no return in the back of my shed if he likes them so much. well, it's still there today. Then they usually added something even dumber like: "Yeah, we used to run those at the strip in the '60s."

Shit, by the time that quadra-bog figures out that you've WFO and allows your revs to start climbing, the guy with the Edelbrock or Holley or even the Carter (for Pete's sake) is already at the trap.

Matthew, I bought a new Corvette in '69, 350/350 4 speed, and was disappointed in the performance but since it was new I was kind of breaking it in easy. I went up to my folks in MA and it bugged me so much I stopped in at Carl Debian's (Deb's) Speed Shop. They informed me the secondaries had never opened. They fixed it and what a difference. LoL
2 years later I started working at Bill Kanuika's Speed Shop (Steves big brother) and I went with a Holly.
