Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan - The Final Season | Official Trailer | Prime Video
Prime Video
The absolute worst show in the world. It didn't start too bad, it's got all the elements of a James Bond show: foreign locations, fancy parties, evil villains, bad guys with guns and our hero being heroic, but they fudge some of the details and it just kept getting worse and worse. The plot became so complicated that it became incomprehensible. And then there were the ads, three or four minutes worth in each episode. Why did I watch it all the way to the end? Well, there was plenty of action, Chavez was a steady character, and there were a couple of good lines, but mostly because I was too tired to do anything else. Mike Kelly (Mr. November) also showed up in Penguin as Johnny Viti.
There was one line that resonated with me, and that was Jack telling a Senate committee that 'the CIA was a microcosm of the American people'. In the general population we have people of varying talents, abilities and political leanings. We likewise have a similar mix in the CIA, which kind of explains why government agencies sometimes do a good job and sometimes they screw the pooch. We don't hear much about the good things they do, but the reporters sure like to tell us about all the disasters.
Locations include:
- Bethesda, Maryland
- Washington D. C.
- Dubrovnik, Croatia
- Drug lord's villa and a prison in Myanmar
- Some obscure port in Mexico
- Lagos, Nigeria gets mentioned, but I'm not sure we actually go there.
