The Ogalla Aquifier provides most of the water used for crop irrigation in the High Plains of the Central United States. There is some question as to how long it will be able to continue doing so as
farmers are sucking it up at a rate of two feet a year. I suppose it depends on how deep this pool of water is. If it's 1,000 feet deep, then that should be enough water for 500 years. If it's only ten feet deep we'll have giant dustbowl later next week.
