HIS & HERS - Netflix Series

HIS & HERS | Official Trailer | Netflix
Netflix

Kind of a stupid show, full of catty women being catty. All the evidence for the murder points to the lead detective, Jack, and so far (3 episodes in) he has managed to conceal his total involvement with the victim. Did he kill her? Don't know but he's such a jerk that I don't really care. But now we've got a second murder victim, so go ahead and place your bets on who's the killer. That's the only reason to keep watching it is to find out who dunnit. Also, my wife seems to be enjoying it, and a couple of hours of Netflix does sooth my addled mind.

The ending almost makes it worthwhile. At the end our list of suspects has narrowed down to two women, and it kind of looks like one of them is the killer. But then the real killer is unveiled, and it's a person who has been there all along, but just kind of in the background, floating around the edges.

6 episodes, 40 minutes each

Juror #2 - Max Movie

Juror #2 - Official Trailer - Warner Bros. UK & Ireland
Warner Bros. UK & Ireland

Murder trail in Georgia. Jury trial, which means jury deliberations. Except the girl wasn't murdered by her boyfriend, she was hit a passing car, in the rain, by one of the jurors, juror #2. It's kinda slow paced and tedious. Juror #2 is in a bit of a bind, especially when his lawyer tells him they'll send him to prison if he cops to the crime. Pretty sure that's bad advice.

Update a couple hours later: the first video I included wouldn't play here. I had clicked on Share and it had put the trailer in my blog, but it wouldn't play. I go back and look at Embed under Share and it tells me embedding is disabled. Huh. So I used this one.

A Man In Full

A MAN IN FULL Trailer (2024) Jeff Daniels, Lucy Liu
ONE Media

Jeff Daniels does a good job portraying Charlie Croker, an obnoxious, belligerent Atlanta real estate tycoon who has run to the limits of his credit. Now the bankers are coming for him. We also have:
  • the mayor who is trying to ensure his victory in the upcoming election by digging up dirt on his opponent.
  • his secretary's husband who has gotten arrested for fighting with a cop over a parking infraction.
  • the weasley banker who is seeking revenge for past humiliations at the hands of Charlie.
  • an assortment of lovely women: his wife, his ex-wife and Lucy Liu.
There is an old joke about if you owe the bank a hundred grand, you have a problem, but if you owe the bank a hundred million, the bank has a problem. That applies here.

Hollywood & Hightower

Hollywood & Hightower

Earth - Sun - Film has post with this picture. The post is about graves. The whole area is one big cemetery.

Google Streetview of Hollywood & Hightower

Just for grins, I ask Google Maps for this intersection (shown on the street signs in the picture) and it takes me right there. It doesn't take me long to arrive at a close approximation of the image. The angle is slightly different because Streetview only has views from specific points, the photo was taken from between those two points.

Bizarre Cell Phone Tower

Just down the road is the Hollifield Mortuary. There is a bizarre cell phone tower on the grounds.

Resolution

Salvage Catamaran VB-10,000 cutting up the MV Golden Ray - Tamara Keel

You may have heard that big, fat container ship has contrived to get itself sideways in the Suez Canal completely blocking the channel and causing a huge pileup of cargo vessels at both ends. View From The Porch and daily timewaster both have posts up about it. This picture is not that ship, this is another disaster that happened off the coast of Georgia a couple of years ago.

I cropped the above image from a high-res photo that Tam posted. In Tam's post the ships are just a red and yellow blob. If your camera has enough pixels it can compensate for not having a zoom lens. The downside is that a few images can really eat into your storage space. Of course storage space is cheap these days.

1 Terabyte USB memory stick from Amazon < $40

Unless you are renting space on the cloud. It's still cheap, but it incurs a monthly charge. $2 a month buys 100GB from Google. My cropped image uses one-tenth as much space as the original. The original is only about 1/4 of a megabyte, which is negligible on this scale. However, I scanned a batch of old 4 x 6 photos at 600 dpi and each one of those required about 50 megabytes. That amount of space on this thumb drive would be a fifth of a cent. On Google it would be a tenth of a cent a month. Take a thousand photos and you're talking about a cup of coffee.
