LEFT A Family outing an Sunday afternoon is the same as always in Rhodesia - except for the automatic rifle at the ready "just in case."
RIGHT If the terrorists come the girls will be ready for them. They practice regularly because they know that the first shot could be the one that counts.

Young Cossacks

Novocherkassk

Near as I can make out, the Don Cossack Cadet School is in Novocherkassk.

Novocherkassk is a city in Rostov Oblast, Russia, located near the confluence of the Tuzlov and Aksay Rivers, the latter a distributary of the Don River. Novocherkassk is best known as the cultural capital of the Cossacks, and as the official capital of the Don Cossacks. Population: 168,746. . . the city was founded in 1805. - Wikipedia

Guns

Why Civilians carry Weapons in the streets
Marcio Tour Guide Israel

I kinda think Israel has the right idea, I especially like the bit about how everyone is trained in the use of firearms. Don't think we could get away with making it mandatory here, but having firearms classes available in all high schools might be a good idea. Might have fewer fools shooting someone by accident.

Jerusalem

Everybody's packin' and nobody's freakin'. So okay, it is like on verge of becoming a war zone at any moment, but everyday life goes on including this old dude playing the guitar.

Femme Fatale

Lauren Bacall

Via Bustednuckles, who has a whole bunch of pictures of actresses with guns. Some of them I recognized, some I didn't. The real test is figuring what movie the pictures are from. I was only able to name a couple of the movies.

Gun Girl

Gun Girl

Riders of Skaith has an excellent review of the science fiction novel Battle for the Stars wherein we find this triggering phrase:

It’s almost as good as the trick where someone ends up manning the antiaircraft guns whilst scantily clad, which Hamilton was also good at.

So I had to go find a pic. Lots of pics out there of sci-fi babes. Many of them are holding guns, but not too many of them wielding guns in a combat setting.

War Zone Homework

How a Transcarpathian schoolgirl quickly disassembles and assembles a machine gun.

Transcarpathia? Southwestern most region of Ukraine:

Zakarpattia Oblast

It's one thing if a girl wants to be a soldier or play with guns, and it's another if the enemy is attacking your country and your situation is desperate, but if you're getting drug into a shooting war by a bunch of lying jackholes who are only interested in the kickbacks they are getting from the defense industry, that's another case entirely.

SWEET

I suspect this is an AI generated image. I'm generally opposed to AI art, but Riders is right, this is a pretty sweet image.

Guns: My Daily Kona has a longish post about the Mosin-Nagant rifle. Seems that a hundred years ago the world was in flames just like it is now. WW1 and the Russian revolution were raging and even Ireland was getting into the act. Westinghouse and Remington were churning out Mosin-Nagant rifles that went everywhere.

Conspiracies Я Us

Sarah Beth Clendaniel was arrested by federal authorities on charges that she plotted to destroy energy facilities in the Baltimore area.

Remember when electrical substations were getting shot up?

Over the last three months, at least nine substations have been attacked in North Carolina, Washington State and Oregon, cutting power to tens of thousands of people. After those attacks, federal regulators ordered a review of security standards for the electrical system. - New York Times, February 4, 2023

Well, RT (formerly Russia Today and undoubtedly Putin's mouthpiece) has a story that links these attacks to neo-Nazis in Ukraine, and we are getting these attacks now because of all the money we have been pouring into Ukraine. Talk about unintended consequences. Just goes to show that the mafia that is running this country, and it is most definitely a mafia, doesn't give a fig about what's happening here as long as they can stomp all over the rest of the world.

Neo-Nazi brotherhood: How American friends of Ukrainian fascists plotted a terror attack in the US and the media ignored the story

I don't know that the media ignored the story because I pretty much ignore the mainstream media.

Madeleine de Vercheres

Statue of Madeleine de Vercheres

More from Caroline Furlong's post about books:
Another novel I recommend is Ethel C. Brill’s Madeleine Takes Command*. It tells the story of Madeleine de Vercheres, the fourteen-year-old French-Canadian girl who saved her family’s fort from being overrun by the Iroquois Nation when the latter attacked. With the help of her twelve- and ten-year-old brothers and an old manservant, Madeleine held the Iroquois off for a week. Some of the soldiers who were supposed to be guarding the fort were killed or captured along with the male habitants who farmed the land, while the rest had taken the lack of Iroquois activity to mean it was safe enough to go hunting.

Having seen her mother direct the defense of the fort in a prior raid and lost her eldest brother in battle against the Iroquois, Madeleine was not so sanguine. Along with her brothers she kept the women and children safe until relief arrived from Montreal. It is a fascinating story, and I have to say that Madeleine has been one of my personal heroines ever since I read the book. It is not a novel with which I will part willingly.

She's talking about a novel, but it seems awfully specific, so I check and there really was a Madeleine de Vercheres and she really did save the fort.

Tetiana Gaidar

Tetiana Gaidar Next Level 👸🏻💖❤️‍🔥 🤩
Taran Tactical

We watched the last two episodes of Bosch: Legacy last night, and Tetiana showed up playing an assassin. She sounded Russian and she was pretty good at her job, so I look her up. She was born in Ukraine and speaks Russian. She now lives in the USA and has become a citizen. She also apparently loves guns given the number of YouTube videos of her running through shooting trials.

She even has one where she is shooting a gun while en pointe.

Gun Bunnies are Alluring

Gun Bunny at White Supremacist Gun Rally in Richmond, Virginia, MLK day 2020

This woman might not be every man's idea of a 'babe', but by her dress I'm inclined to think she has her head screwed on right, which is more important.

Handwaving Freakoutery has a good post up about internet memes and people's brains. I think this analogy about how society works is pretty good:

We have spoken extensively here about modeling the modern social media engine as a legitimate, verifiable brain, which works in the same manner as an artificial neural network.

We might summarize this idea as follows. People behave on social media in the exact same way as neurons in a brain. Your feed is a series of impulses you gather from your dendrites (connections), you evaluate which of those signals to amplify, and then you like or share a signal, sending it down your axon (repost) to other neurons. This evaluation you make, about whether to share something or not, is performed based on an internal function rooted partially in your biology, but probably rooted largely in your indoctrinations.
