I thought I would know more of the songs, but I only recognized about six. I think there were about 30 songs in the show (two and a half hours). The sound on Beat It, the opening number was pretty good, but on the other tunes that I knew, the bass was too strong and the mid-range was weak. My ears might be funny, but that's the way it sounded to me.
Being a successful musician is a bit of a curse. If you get a hit, everyone wants to hear it, so you get to play it over and over again. I would think that would get to be a bit tedious, but then I'm not a musician, their brains are wired differently, so maybe playing the same tune over a thousand times is nirvana for them.
Show business is the flakiest of businesses. It takes a certain amount of capital to put a show together (costumes, props, rehearsal time), and most of them fall flat, lucky if they break even. But every once is while you get a hit and the amount of money that flows in is mind boggling. The potential fabulous wealth from a successful show is alluring, so people keep putting shows together and we keep being entertained.
