I've always wondered just what kind of resolution you can get with film, but I've never been able to get a straight answer. Everyone wants to get bogged down in the physiology of vision or the chemistry of film and they never get around to actually giving you a number. 6400 might not be the limit that can be reached with film, but it's certainly a heck of a lot better than the 100 dpi you get on your desktop display device, or the 1000 lines per inch you get in your glossy magazines.
