Weird. I remember in middle school shop class we used shellac to finish our woodworking projects. That would have been around 1965. Don't think I have used it since.

I remember using shellac to finish woodworking projects as a yute.
Shellac is used in mechanical watches to hold the pallet jewels in place.
Alan - how did you come by that bit of knowledge?
