NYC: $12 for a pack of smokes!?! $5 for the Sunday Paper!?! At least the beer is cold. And big. Picture stolen from Burro Hall. Last time I noticed smokes were $5 locally. Seems like the older I get, the faster inflation goes (runs? inflates?).

$5 of the price in NY is inflation.
Another $2 is for the joy of being in the Big Apple.
The remainder is taxes.
Needless to say, cigarett smuggling is alive and well in NYFC.
"New York City has a citywide tax of $1.50, making the combined state and local rate $5.85, the highest in the nation."

Eight bucks in Hyde Park back in '10.
