Cool video. I like the way he has combined old footage, animation and new stuff. The Vought Kingfisher was the American version of this airplane. The PBY Catalina was also big in search and rescue. The Walrus was tiny compared to the Catalina. The Walrus was a quarter of the weight and had less than half the wingspan.

Recently I watched a video of a man in Russia build a biwing single engine amphibian aircraft. I could not identify the type, but from what you posted here, what he built is very much similar. Perhaps a bit modified. The seating is two side by side. Talk about cramped.
The man started with the forward section of a boat hull.
