I was hired to replace a dishwasher. The ever helpful home owner (the very same who did not know the location of the water main shutoff) said, Let me get my tool. And with that he disappeared into the garage.

Did I hear him correctly? He said tool, as in singular. Twenty minutes later he comes back holding a single allen wrench. Oh boy, disaster avoided. Too bad for him I had already dislodged the ancient appliance and was removing the copper water line.

He also blamed me for kinking the copper line, the green corrosion not withstanding. That sort of thing is why I had the habit of shutting off the water at the main.
