Stair Climbing
I am pretty sure the number I quoted for Calories burned per flight of stairs (16) in an earlier post is bogus. I just spent fifteen minutes climbing (and descending) stairs. I managed 36 flights in that time. At 16 Calories per flight that comes out to 576 Calories, the equivalent of walking almost six miles. I did work up a sweat. Even so, I think at best I burned about 100 Calories, which would make it not quite 3 Calories per flight. So it's a little more strenuous than walking, which means you burn the same number of Calories in less time, and it's should improve your fitness level a little more. As a bonus, there are no cars to deal with.
