Went to Amelia's Mexican restaurant for dinner on the other day. I usually order enchiladas or chile relleno but this time I got the Saturday Special - Birria de Res en Caldo - and it was great. It shows up as a large bowl of a thick broth, but lurking below the surface were several large chunks of beef. They had been cooking for a while, so they came apart easily. I wasn't able to finish it, so I took the leftovers home and got another full meal out it. This might be my new favorite dish. Too bad it's only available on Saturday.
