The Jawa 500 OHV became the very first motorcycle of the new Jawa company in 1929. It is a copy of the Wanderer 500 from the German company Wanderer. The name 'Jawa' was derived from the combination of the names “Janeček” and “Wanderer”.

- single cylinder but dual exhaust

- drum brake mounted on the transmission
Just over a thousand units produced between 1929 and 1931.

So if you pulled the clutch in , you lost rear braking ?
If you moved the brake drum from the back of the transmission to the back of the engine, I suppose that would be true. Lot of work to get to that point though.
