Milo McIver State Park fire out, but evacuation orders remain
Milo McIver State Park? Where's that? I've never heard of it, so I check. It's out by Estacada which is like on the road to Mr. Hood. I've been out that way before, but I never bothered with the parks. I only went to Mt. Hood to go skiing.
I'm a little ambivalent about parks. I mean, I like the idea, they seem like a good thing, but I never go to them. Maybe I'm busy or maybe I'm anti-social. Or maybe there was one incident out of a zillion that just soured me on the whole deal. Can't recall any particular incident, but maybe being an introvert means that big social gatherings are exhausting. Could it be that I am always looking out for potential trouble? Not sure about this, it's kind of weird.

Check out Vortex , rock concert held in 1970. I was there!
Our governor Tom McCall feared conflict between some event veterans had scheduled in Portland, and all the damn dirty hippies (was I one? Maybe ) infesting Portland. So he schemed to draw all the DDH out of town, and it worked.
Not to be too picky, but the flagged location on the map is a bit off. Estacada is way east. I used to launch the drift boat at the ramp in the park and drift the Clackamas River for Steelhead back in the '80's. Before Portland got "discovered". Bought low, sold high and headed to E.
Tennessee in '97. Reading about it now breaks my heart. Time for a new bumper sticker
