Russian Flags - Video Short

What are These WEIRD Russian Flags in Ukraine??
HistoryLegends

YouTube Shorts are a good way to kill a couple of hours (or days if you aren't careful). Most of the video clips are silly, funny, amusing or stupid, but every once in a while something interesting pops up, like this one.

Good Morning, Veronica Netflix

Good Morning, Veronica Season 1 Trailer | Rotten Tomatoes TV
Rotten Tomatoes TV

There are some very despicable people running around loose in the world and it's Veronica's self appointed mission to put a stop to their cruel, criminal activities in Sao Paulo Brazil. I think we started watching it once before and I think I put a stopper on it because we had just finished another series about about a sadistic killer and I wasn't up for another one.

It was kind of curious watching the first episode. Nothing in the first half of the show clued in me in that we had seen it before, but as soon as the villain appeared on the screen I began to realize we had seen this episode before.

But it's been awhile since I have seen a show with a sadistic killer, and I know Veronica is going to prevail, so I think we'll probably be able to finish the series.

Background Music

Euphoria Album Cover

My wife and I watch a couple hours of Netflix most nights. Many shows have scenes that have background music. That music mostly passes below my conscious attention but sometimes one or both of us will notice. I came across this story in W magazine the other day:

Behind the Music of TV’s Top Shows by Brooke Marine

It's not an earth-shattering tale, but it does give a little insight into what goes into choosing the tunes to incorporate into a show's soundtrack. I put the songs mentioned in that article into a YouTube playlist. I don't think there is a single one in there that I like, but then I haven't seen most of the shows Brooke mentions either.

When you are trying to set the tone or mood of a scene, the most appropriate music may not be something you would actually want to listen to. People are funny that way, well, at least I am.

Got a haircut at Bebe Salon the other day. My wife isn't happy with the haircuts I get from barbers, so I go to Bebe for my haircuts. Had to wait a bit so I'm looking through the magazines that are lying on the table. The first couple I picked up (Time and Cosmopolitan) were just garbage, but I dig a little deeper and found copies of Harper's Bazaar and W. Gives me a chance to see what is going on on other planets and some of the stuff is strange indeed. These high fashion magazines are full of advertisements for designer brands and it occured to me that women spend an inordinate amount of time and money on their appearance. Well, duh, of course they do. I've known that for a long time, but it's such a fixture of human society that I don't pay it any mind. It's just a fact of life, like gravity. But then I pick up magazines like these, or walk down the makeup aisle in the drugstore on my way to pick up a prescription and I realize it all over again. It's just insane. Men aren't any better, it's just their insanity shows up in the form of fancy toys like cars and boats.

So I'm paging through W and I come across a photo essay about music families and the leading picture (at top) is Sister Sledge. Whoa! Haven't heard that name in a long time. They had some big hits like We Are Family back in the 70s and 80s. I pull up We Are Family on YouTube, it's a nice enough tune, but it doesn't grab me, but it does remind me of another tune from the same era:

Giant Sinkhole in Chile

Sinkhole in Tierra Amarilla, Chile

Giant sinkhole appeared over the weekend in the Atacama Desert. There is an underground copper mine in the neighborhood that might have something to do with it. Sinkholes are just weird.

Just for grins I tried locating it on Google Maps and from the relative positions of the buildings and roads, I think I found it.

Sky Warden

AT-802U Sky Warden - L3 Harris Technologies

I dunno about this. The Air Tractor crop duster airplane has been adapted for close air support for the U.S. military's Special Operations Command (SOCOM). I mean low and slow can be useful, but maybe this is too low and slow. On the upside it can carry five tons of payload, which is sizable.

The Air Tractor has also been adapted for use as a water bomber as seen here and here.

Zephyr Drone

U.S. Army launching Zephyr Drone at Yuma Proving Grounds - U.S. Army

I posted about the Zephyr not quite a year ago. The Army is still experimenting with it. It's currently on day 36 of a long endurance flight over Yuma.
