SvalSat is a satellite communications facility in Norway. Svalbard is an island about 500 miles north of mainland Norway and about 750 miles from the North Pole.

This place is also home to the most northern post office in the world, where you can stamp your passport with various stamps of Svalbard. Philatelists love the place. SWMBO was there last summer :-)
