Happy New Year

Or, as they say in Greece:
Καλή χρονιά με υγεία, υπομονή στα δύσκολα και επιμονή για καλύτερες μέρες στην Ελλάδα μας.
Which showed up in an email from Nick this morning. At first I thought this greeting was in Russian, but Google tells me it is Greek, and  translates it as:
Happy new year with health, patience and perseverance in difficult for better days in our Greece.
Well, yes, Greece is catching a lot of grief over the financial mess in Europe. But who is Nick? Googling his email address takes me to a list of Airsoft dealers in Europe, along with a map of their locations. Looks like Nick is on the island of Chios, just off the West Coast of Turkey. Wait a minute, wasn't Dimitrios in this area? Sure, enough, he was in Smyrna, now call Izmir.

Re-reading my old post about The Mask of Dimitrios, I come across this little bit:
One of the key elements is a private bank that :
  • finances operations in the Balkans that are processing heroin for distribution in the West.
  • engages in assassination (another of Dimitrios' occupations) when the policies of certain countries threaten their profits.
Which brings us to back to where we were yesterday.

Let's talk about the video that is at the start of this post. First of all it reminds me this picture. Second, the pictures were taken with a Casio high speed camera, and lastly, the music is from a company that makes Music for Motion Picture Advertising.
