I didn't see a place to comment on the rifle so I'll put it here.

Wow, I grew up around Springfield, MA, had kin and friends working at the Springfield Armory, Smith & Wesson, Savage Arms, and Dan Wesson Firearms. Plus I worked for Westinghouse Steam Turbine for 17 years.
I had heard of J Stevens Arms and of course the Duryea Brothers first production US automobile company in the US.
In all that I’d never even heard a suggestion of the New England Westinghouse Company. Not a clue, so thanks for that link, it's a hell of a story.
