Erimus Star

The Erimus Star collects waste oil from ships when they are in port at Middlesbrough, UK.

Out and about today stopped to buy gas at the 76 station in downtown Hillsboro. The guy pumping gas had a flowing mane of blond hair along with a full beard. Hasn't had a haircut since 1982 when he got out of the military. His hair was great though a little incongruous on a 60 old man. Should have taken his picture.

The 76 is the only gas station on the west side of Hillsboro, and only just barely. There are half a dozen gas stations in town, but they are all on the east side. The west side is almost entirely populated by automobile dealers and auto repair shops.

$15 bag of oranges

On my way to St. Johns I saw two people standing on corners selling oranges. On the way back I saw one was still there, so I stopped and bought a bag. What a gig, standing outside in 40 degree weather all day waiting for someone to stop. This one was a short, brown woman with a smiling mouth full of gold teeth, wrapped up like an eskimo. I think 'fifteen dollars' was all of her English.
