Harder Drive: Hard drives we didn't want or need
suckerpinch

This is an entertaining bit of nonsense. He looks at three unusual methods of storing data, none of them are practical or efficient, but he does take us down some strange byways.

He makes a couple of stupid remarks about political stuff but not everyone is aware of how much bullshit there is in the narrative, so I'm willing to overlook these minor faults. Also, the video is a year old. His opinion may have changed.

A friend of mine wanted to make a device that he could strap onto himself that used gyroscopes to allow him to walk in a straight line no matter how drunk he became. We ended up with a theoretical vest containing tens of thousands of tiny air pressure powered gyroscopes in a fabric made of a network of tubes used to transmit the pressurized air from a pair of shoes with the pumps built into the soles. After spending a bunch of time figuring out how to get it done we decided it was silly because if you stopped walking you would lose air pressure and fall over.

And it was still a more realistic exercise than this, also we never wasted the time needed to create an animated film about it.

What a great idea! You could build a whole science fiction universe around it. Well, if you didn't have anything better to do.
