Anesthetics

The summer my before my father died, he underwent surgery three times. First in June he had a stent installed in an artery. After he fell, they put him under in order to relax his muscles to make relocating his hip joint easier. When that didn't work they put him under a third time for surgery to try and repair his hip joint. The joint repair worked, but it took him six weeks to flush all the anesthetics out of his system. A younger person would recover faster, but my father was 86 years old.

Only after I had been going to the hospital for a few weeks did one of the nurses volunteer that "general anesthetic is not your friend".
