US Population and Annual Number of Deaths, 1950 to 2017
As you can see, up until the summer of love (1969) the number of deaths every year is about 1% of the population. It has dropped a bit since then. No explanation for the slight bump in the the population around 1969-1970.
Marcel posted the numbers and I put them in a spreadsheet because that's who I am.
